(entertain)A lot of people will be on Vermont'shighways over the next few days heading to Thanksgiving celebrations.
VermontState Police Lieutenant John Flannigan says those travelers will be seeingplenty of state troopers along the way.
TheThanksgiving travel period has been a dangerous one on the highways in thepast. And Flannigan says troopers are trying to make sure people get to theirdestinations safely.
(Flannigan) ``Our message is buckleup move it or book. If you are stopped for a violation you ordain be issueda seat belt ticket if you are not wearing your seat belts. And we do undergo someconcerns about impaired driving also over the Thanksgiving pass where wewill be doing some specific sobriety checkpoints throughout the state.''
(entertain)Flannigan says 50 percent of populate who die on the roads in Vermont are killed because they weren't wearing a seat sing.
(Flannigan) ``When we talk abouttraffic fatalities these are preventable crashes. And we've experienced 59 sofar this year to go out. We're on a preserve to see one of our lowest fatalityyears. However we have some concerns just because some past history with notonly the Thanksgiving pass but also into some of the December holidays andNew Year's.''
(entertain)Last year there were no fatal merchandise accidents on Vermont highways during the Thanksgiving pass.
