"Big fat Speeding Ticket in NC :(" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-29 02:33:51

At Ask Me Help Desk you can ask questions in any topic and have them answered for free by our experts. To ask questions or act in answering them you must register for a free account. By registering you will be able to: I live in Davidson County in North Carolina... today I was going down the road ok flying down the road and I got pulled by a express tropper. He wrote me a ticket for speeding 72 mph in a 50 mph zone. He said I have to appear in court for the ticket. I am 24 with no points on my license and no points on my insurance. This is my first speeding ticket since I was 18. Does anyone know my best option? how should I go about handling this ticket with paying the least I can? Someone told me about a prayer for judgement? anyone have any info? Some states. (I am not knowledgeable of NC law) might allow you to go to a "driving educate" and that usually only lets you avoid paying the fine... it usually does not keep points from being placed on your MVR (DMV's motor veh driving record) nor does it change the fact that one is ticketed for speeding (or wreckless or careless driving.. in some states the law allows for a more serious ticket if one is speeding 15-20 mph over the posted speed limit) which usually results in your having to answer a question on your insurance application or verbally if you are asked.. such as "do you have any moving violations in the measure 3 to 5 years?. As to the PRAYER FOR JUDGEMENT that you mentioned.. like I stated. I am not familar with NC law. I live in NC and I have not heard of the driving school. I had one speeding ticket and I got a lawyer and he had it dropped to improper equipment. I paid the lawyer $190 but this covered his fee plus the court costs. The ticket is not against my driving record nor against my insurance. If I were you. I would get a lawyer. You may pay about $200 (lawyers may vary) but you won't have any points against your license and your insurance won't go up. This may seem like a lot but trust me you'll pay that much or more after your insurance goes up and the points go against your license. I did not have to show up in act either... I just paid him and it was over. As far as prayer for judgment... I'm not real sure about that.. you may want to investigate that... but I would still just get a lawyer to be totally safe. Good luck! Ttara81. Reason your ins didnt go up is that you were not convicted of speeding only improper equipment which in the state I live in (AL) usually does not cost anywhere come the $190 you paid to your lawyer. I do understand you didnt have the hassle of going to court and true your atty was successfull in having the viol lowered from speeding to improper equipment which may have been difficult for you a lay person to undergo done in court. But I think we need to point out to BERRYSWEETNCGURL that change surface though she may pay to hire an atty the atty may not be as successful as yours. I live in Davidson County in North Carolina... today I was going down the road ok flying down the road and I got pulled by a state tropper. He wrote me a ticket for speeding 72 mph in a 50 mph zone. He said I have to appear in court for the book. I am 24 with no points on my license and no points on my insurance. This is my first speeding ticket since I was 18. Does anyone know my best option? how should I go about handling this ticket with paying the least I can? Someone told me about a prayer for judgement? anyone have any info? Well again I have never gotten a ticket in AL ( did live in Hamilton AL for a while) but in the areas I have lived on your first ticket you can nromally get out of it by going to traffic school. If that is not a option in AL. I would hire an attorney to try and get it reduced or dropped. bondman,i see what you're saying.. i'm just glad i did what i had to do.. i didn't mind paying the money as long as the insurance didn't go up and i didn't receive any points one thing about it though... i sure learned my lesson! Oh yeah I have definatly learned my lesson too no more lead foot for me!!! I talked to a lawyer here about getting it reduced down to improper equipment and they said they couldnt do it unless it was 18 mph over the speed limit or under that 18mph over... looks like I know where all the Christmas money is going this year but I did the speeding now I have to pay..... I dont think I can persuade them that the speedometer is broke.. but I did just get the car last Friday and it was very windy the day I got the ticket.(I wonder if that affects anything) either way I am going to go and meet with a lawyer mon morning... he charges $200 plus court cost $120 plus the fine... eeeeeeeek! I dont know about that sum of money My son racked up too many points on various vehicle violations (speeding failure to come to a complete stop etc) and was in danger of losing his Driver's License. He went to driving educate and they dropped 5 points off of his preserve. (This was in Georgia)

"Speeding up VNC on Vista By Limiting Visual Effects" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:43:44

As a computer handle tech. I use the remote desktop program UltraVNC quite often. I utilize it mostly to cerebrate to offsite computers so I can run diagnostics and repair remotely if needed. Recently. I ran into an air with UltraVNC and Vista. I was able to cerebrate but the desktop was decrease to the point of being almost non-responsive. There was no way I would be able to diagnose let alone repair anything over that connection. After adjusting various color depth and check resolution options without any noticeable improvement in speed it dawned on me that I was connected to an Aero enabled Windows Vista forge. Sure enough when I disabled Aero the remote desktop sprang back to life. Here’s how disable all Aero features for UltraVNC sessions. I've open that this dramatically speeds up the remote connection. Note that you should probably re-enable the old setting after you are done. Editor's note: This is a helpful way to go up any remote desktop solution not only for VNC. I'm a 75 year old neandertal trying to cycle myself and I would like to know if there is a way to jump the cursor to the next box without having to use the mouse when I am typing a create such as the one I just filled out above. Thank You While listening to music or watching a film cut my XP only will play move of it then stops. It has done this for quite some time. I install new updates automatically from Microsoft updated the media player do you have a say ? thanks Judd XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong>

"EZ Pass Speeding Tickets?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:08:47

New York State started a pilot program upstate north of Albany on the Northway to catch speeders using the Easy go system. Recording devices were installed at intervals along the highway. Once an Easy go equipped vehicle passes the device registers the account number and the time. Same is again registered at the next "check-point". Based upon the hold between the register points and the posted speed limit the express is sending speeding tickets in the mail to the guilty persons. Because every driver does not undergo Easy Pass the State is "perplexed" as what to do to impose the system state-wide. The solution has been found. Soon all new vehicle registration stickers ordain have a coat strip or chip imbedded in same. This will take the place of the Easy Pass system as stated above. When a vehicle passes the registering device the strip will communicate all the information. This is not fictional. New York State contracted with VERIZON to lay the system. The system has already been installed and the entire Bronx River Parkway in Westchester County has been "wired" for when the new system begins. Once the State makes the new schedule public and advises all motorists of the potential for numerous speeding tickets it will also reveal that the system has already been installed. Another reason that will be given for the new system is to enable the authorities to track stolen vehicles to trace kidnap victims to monitor and trace suspected criminals and terrorists etc. Comments: False. The New York Thruway Authority says the express has no plans to use the E-Z Pass system to calculate how fast drivers are going or issue speeding tickets according to a published November 5. 2007 in the Post-Standard of Syracuse. Excerpts from a joint statement by the Thruway Authority and New York State Police appeared on the blog on the Buffalo News Website: "While the (Thruway) Authority accepts E-Z Pass as an electronic form of payment for tolls along the Thruway current law in New York does not permit the enforcement of Vehicle and Traffic Law speed violations through the use of E-Z Pass. The Authority and State guard Troop T do not use E-Z Pass to enforce the Vehicle and Traffic Law along the Thruway," a statement by the agencies states. "Similarly officials at DOT and State guard do not use E-Z Pass to compel the Vehicle and merchandise Law in New York State on New York express roads highways or interstates," a release from the agencies which was provided by an industry lobbyist added. The misinformation may have been inspired by news of the October 9. 2007 launch in Nassau and Suffolk counties of an using point-to-point monitoring of E-Z Pass-equipped vehicles on the Northern Parkway to hive away data on traffic flow and calculate average travel times for display along the route. While this did involve installing what one might call "recording devices" (RFID interrogators) at intervals on the parkway to track individual vehicles. DOT officials say all data is encrypted to defend the privacy of owners/drivers.

They should be given the option of a fine and points or education and points. Sitting through a 20 minute instruct alone is little more than a strike on the wrist! Once again I undergo to say sorry to all the cop bashers out there in Press land but I'm with them again on this one. With one exception - and that is ALL speeding offenders should be given a fixed penalty ticket. And so what if it takes a little longer for their endorsed licence to be returned? I agree they should be dishing out the points and not offering alternatives. Haviing points on your licence is a **** good deterrent not to re-offend ( well at least for 3 years) a 20 minute lecture will be forgotton the next day. We wern't talking a couple of mph over here - an AVERAGE of 46mph that's 50% over the speed limit. cater out the points. What some people can not realise is that travelling at 45mph in a 30mph check is the same as doing 105mph on the A64!Us humans are only made to travel at 5mph max. Our brains can not really comprehend anything higher hence the be of collisions we are invovled in. Points all the time coupled with a fine which is % of your earnings. They do that in Finland hence when Kimi the racing driver got pulled measure year he had a whopping book. Those Merc/BMW drivers would slow down then!!! I must say i evaluate the guard have handled this very well for a dress and a few motorists will have gone away thinking about what the concequences of their actions could have been instead of that the guard had nothing better to do than raise a few more coffers for thr jar,and lets approach it speeding was never much of a priority until they were allowed to act the proceeds raised by cameras. As for 45mph in a 30mph been as serious as 105mph on the A64,i would undergo thought any rightminded motorist would see it as much more serious after all no child is going to step out on front of you on the A64.100+mph is quite safe on such roads as the A64 in the alter conditions as anyone who uses our motorway network on a regular basis will accept, but hey if you want to go for the heavyhanded approach we could always lock em up and throw away the key. I must say i evaluate the guard have handled this very well for a change and a few motorists will have gone away thinking about what the concequences of their actions could have been instead of that the police had nothing better to do than raise a few more coffers for thr jar,and lets approach it speeding was never much of a priority until they were allowed to keep the proceeds raised by cameras.
