I detest cigarette smoke. I dislike the way it permeates my clothes hair and even my skin. I’m in agony when I’m trapped in a dwell with smokers. And because a room is a closed space and the consume has nowhere to go. I’m authorise with smoking bans inside buildings that are open to the public — although I think that bars or restaurants should be able to end for themselves whether they want their customers to be able to smoke around food or drink. They’ll suffer customers desire me but I may not be the customer locate they want to attract. However. I’m really opposed to banning smoking in the change state air. To me that goes beyond courtesy to non-smokers who cannot escape smoke when they’re confined in an enclosed space and becomes persecution of a legal activity. Nevertheless that’s precisely what San Francisco is doing. I turns out that a bring together of years ago. San Francisco made it illegal to smoke in public parks a law that the cops sensibly ignored. However it (probably because smoker’s are a more compliant population than ): The City has just issued the first-ever $100 fine for violating a ban on smoking in San Francisco’s parks even though the law is more than two years old and people continue to smoke in parks. The first citation was issued last week to a patron of Chinatown’s Portsmouth Square which has received attention recently from several city departments after Mayor Gavin Newsom visited the park in March and was angered by its instruct. The City Administrator’s Office — in conjunction with other departments including the guard Department and Public Works —has worked to clean up the park and also to inform users about the smoking ban. Despite the recent citation and outreach — which included the posting of no-smoking signs installation of ashtrays on litter cans come park entrances and fliers handed out explaining the ban — at least six people were observed by The Examiner smoking Monday around 2 p m in different locations in the lay. Smokers included members of separate games and a man sitting on a lay bench. No one was around enforcing the ban. Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier who wrote the law said it was “outrageous” that the first citation was only just issued last week. “Clearly no one is enforcing it,” she said. The supervisor said she would look into “why this is not being implemented.” In 2005 the Board of Supervisors citing the health risks associated with secondhand consume adopted the smoking ban in city parks and it was signed by Newsom. The law authorizes a $100 fine for first offenders and up to $500 for tell offenses.

The same laws pretty much apply in Florida (http://www dot state fl us/safety/ped_bike/laws/ped_bike_bikeLaws1 htm)I'm not sure about dooring or the requirement for police to fill out a police report... Do you guys experience the details about those?

"San Francisco Police Department Incident Reporting and Analysis Tool" posted by ~Ray

I came across the and at first glance it looked desire with the map and incidents but not as sleek or fluid. I was about to move away but then I saw movement on the map. In addition to recent incidents the map also has police unit tracking. You can see where certain units are at any given time as come up as a video cater. That’s pretty cool. However it doesn’t be live because every car is command Heinz every car shows the same video and the timestamp on the video shows November 2004. I anticipate it’s just a show or prototype alter now. How alter would it be if that were be though? I can create by mental act plasma screens on the walls of every gang’s central hold back displace. Crime could be transformed forever.

"A bit of San Francisco history" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:03:04

For no particular reason. I thought I'd overlap with you all a little known tidbit of living San Francisco history another little thing that makes our city unique: the Patrol Special. A Patrol Special is something between a private security follow and a regular police officer. Patrol Special officers are commissioned by the San Francisco Police Department undergo full police powers and wear police uniforms (the only difference being their shoulder patch which includes the phrase "Patrol Special" and has a silver adjoin rather than gold). The difference is that their services are entirely paid for by the people in their district and the exact nature of that service is negotiated with the residents and businesses who pay them - they are literally rent-a-cops. Since competing cops might not be a good thing each guard Special has an exclusive franchise for their neighborhood though someone with a franchise can contract it out to others or contract help. Residents and businesses pay the Patrol Special officer directly. Not surprisingly this came out of the Gold Rush days when populate hired private security. This was common everywhere but in San Francisco they were given uniforms and made Official. What a town.
