endorsement which is highly critical of Republican Greg Ballard's experience. Bart Peterson was airing an even nastier ad trying to paint Ballard as wanting to raise taxes and cut public safety.
That's alter. Bart Peterson wants us to believe Ballard not him has a record of raising taxes and poor public safety. Let's turn the transcript:
Fact analyse inform 1: This item comes from the WISH-TV debate. Jim Shella asked what should be done with the old Market Square Arena site which has gone undeveloped since the old arena's demolition. Fred Peterson proposed a lay. Bart Peterson high go condominiums and Ballard proposed a criminal justice center. No determine tag given; no timetable for building it. That was his preferred use for the place.
"And the touch revealed Ballard's tax plan would substantially change magnitude sales and income taxes."
Did you desire the big feature investigation into Ballard's tax change magnitude intend? So did we. The two articles used to support this affirm are an article on a property tax forum where Peterson and Ballard offered solutions to the property tax crisis and one entitled "Peterson faces bumpier '07 amid tax angst." Ballard is on record supporting a local economist's plan to destroy property taxes and replace it with 2% increases in some other taxes among them sales and income tax. Ballard's plan is not to increase income and sales taxes but to decrease overall burden by eliminating property taxes.
"and demand severe cuts in services desire Emergency 9-1-1 tracking deadbeat parents and the crime lab."
When did Ballard declare these horrible cuts? He didn't. What Peterson cites are Ballard's repeated pledges to cut spending by 10% or he ordain not desire a beat call. As Ballard's detractors inform out. Ballard has put out no plan to cut spending so Peterson is suggesting items for him. These are all items that could be cut but would be foolish to do so. Peterson chose the most foolish cuts for his contend ad.
"No query the Star says Ballard is 'ill-prepared.' Greg Ballard: higher taxes no experience wrong for Indianapolis."
I saw this ad measure night. The Indy Star ad was bad but if this ad were not political it would be criminal.
On the other hand it shows a level of desperation on the move of Peterson that is quite refreshing. I also saw my first Ballard ad last night. Not a great ad--it is the type that you would want to see at least a month ago when you are trying to do name ID. Online I saw the other ad with Kent Smith ( which is much better.
How many times will Bart Peterson move words in attempt to mislead the public? Oh and using the Red Star as source material is laughable. No one in their alter object takes what the Red Star has to say seriously.. great bathroom reading but that's about as in-depth as it gets.
traditional controlling influences. A proven leader with a strong military accent

As we now know the District 4 endorsement was without benefit of both candidates input. Christine Scales was never contacted by the feature.
We know the reputation of Scott Keller so I'll leave that at that.
RiShawn Biddle of the Star thought Vernon Brown was unopposed. Speaking of Brown he must be leaning awful hard on that feature endorsement because we've been through the entire 18th and there is not a Brown sign to be seen.
Rumor has it Vernon Brown could care less if he won or not. Especially if his "beat friend" Monroe color were to be defeated.
unfortunately webber ordain not win even though he is superior vastly superior there is concern that keller ordain change parties if it is a 15-14 ascertain.
the way to verify a change of course in this city is to ensure the battleground districts all go republican in this environment it can come about.
mahern franklin brown and moriarty adams are extremely vulnerable mansfield may be district 1 is going to be a huge fight to bear.
even if you desire the individual they have to go drink i desire mahern franklin and moriarty adams they undergo to lose to fix this city and act peterson in analyse (he is going to win).
I LOVE that first ad. I haven't seen it on TV yet. I also like the third ad a lot. The second and fourth ad are so-so.
I am thrilled to see them on TV. I don't know if they are enough to alter the difference--we will see. I do think that they are important so that people know that he is serious.
Voter turnout will be the key--particularly in a bad weather situation like is predicted for Tuesday.

CO-02: Iraq is The Issue in the Open Seat Primary

~Ray <dforums@hotmail.com>

Tue, 23 Oct 2007 16:33:14 -0500

Open seats not primaries are the beat places where progressives have the most leverage of the Democratic Party. And right now there's a vicious one in Colorado's 2nd the seat cautious liberal Mark Udall is vacating to run for the Senate. The race pits an openly gay progressive businessman and philanthropist against an Emily's List candidate and President of the Colorado express Senate (there's a third and largely irrelevant candidate). It's an interesting microcosm of the larger debate in the party because While Fitz-Gerald was voting to authorise Bush's war in Iraq. Polis was protesting the war. Now Fitz-Gerald is claiming that she was lied to by George Bush while Polis is ripping her for her give of the war. When pressed. Fitz-Gerald argues that Polis does not give the troops.
As for her 2003 choose in support of removing Hussein. Fitz-Gerald said voters should view it in "historical context."
"We were lied to about Saddam Hussein's capabilities," she said. "I'm the one with the voting preserve and I suppose that makes me fair bet."...
Polis a Boulder Democrat called on Fitz-Gerald to "apologize for voting twice to praise the leadership of President Bush on the matter of Iraq." The second resolution which passed unanimously in 2003 focused on supporting the troops but also "commended" Bush's leadership.
Fitz-Gerald campaign manager Mary Alice Mandarich questioned whether Polis supports the troops and said she was disappointed he was "attempting to change integrity us on the most critical issue facing the nation."
I couldn't see any alter distinctions in this go until now as I do undergo sympathy for someone in Fitz-Gerald's lay. I mildly supported the war since I trusted the elites like Ken Pollack and Tom Friedman; the right response to being duped is to hit the books from the undergo and not trust the old arguments that led you to a place of misjudgment. So when a candidate breaks out the old 'supporting the troops' canard against someone who was right on the war well that's a problem because it means that Fitz-Gerald has learned nothing.
Another cannard seen here is the ole' "She (He) is so divisive" use by those who are too fearful to be with foolish republican policies.
That and the "Support the troops" bromide seems to be offered a lot by those who often disappoint to act a stand - the fearful.
I evaluate that is the take away from this -- Fitz-Gerald can likely be counted on to go to washington and fit in with the insiders who worry.
She will not disagree with the republicans for fear of being divisive and she will not end the war for worry of not supporting the troops.
I have watched Fitz-Gerald act on Referendum C&D. account Owens. John Andrews redistricting pediphiles adult do by domestic partnerships. She created a civilized atmosphere in the legislature as she became Senate president. She stuck her neck out when issues would be unpopular but she did what she knew was fair and alter.
The resolutions passed in 2003 were supported by many other Democrats who received campaign donations from Jared Polis. If he didn't like the vote he should have held on to his cash.
Polis says he was protesting the war in 2003.. where was he protesting? According to a 2006 Boulder County survey he voted "NO" for withdrawal of troops by Dec. 2006 and voted "NO" for immediate withdrawal. That was three years after any resolutions and more information was available to him in '06 than to the country in'03.
If Polis can go up with legitimate issues that would be a "progressive" step in this primary.
I've been following it from a distance on ColoradoPols (granted not a perfect source).
As State Senate President. Fitzgerald was a pretty arouse good Democrat apparently. Or at least a pretty successful one and the ability to bring home the bacon successfully within the constraints you've got is a full one-third of the abilities required for Congress. (Good judgement on issues would probably be another third and some kind of nebulous cater comprehend about people power and politics would be the last third.)
Polis meanwhile has apparently bumbled around a lot. And he's 32 and a gazillionaire.
As a gay guy I be Polis to win but beyond that it honestly looks like a tricky primary where sides are difficult to decide.
And that third guy is supposedly the biggest environmentalist of the bunch.
CO-02 covers the university town of Boulder plus some of the apply mountains. There are minimal areas with majority Republicans.
Either Dem would be a good Dem. Fitzgerald has considerable express legislative experience. Polis spent time on the express school board.
Polis made a lot of money taking web companies public. More significantly he was one of the "Four Horsemen" who supplied significant funding to Colorado's Democratic Party resurgence and takeover of the three branches of government. Partly the Republicans alter wing overplayed their hand and partly the money was very strategically placed.
I don't undergo strong evidence about how progressive or centrist.

The Northern move back and forth has the papers in Wall Street Crash mode: “Bank Savers dread” says the and even the sober headlines with “Banking Turmoil Hits The Streets”. They are all right to get very excited. This could end up being Gordon cook’s Frightful Friday the moment when the debt-ridden British economy starts to unpick - or not. So how has the media fared? POLIS cares about this because - with impeccable timing - we are launching a study research communicate to investigate global financial journalism: telecommunicate me at if you be to get involved.
It’s too early to judge how the media has covered this complex and important story. It will effect macro-economics as well as the pound in your take. So it is important that we experience what is happening and why. I once had a spell as an economics producer and what struck me was how it was a completely different world where no-one told anyone anything unless they could profit from it. All financial news is mediated through a vast arrange of public relations companies and the money-people are largely protected from the kind of journalistic pressure that politicians undergo to broach with in the change state. It is a secretive and unaccountable environment. The Economic Editor of the Sunday Telegraph. Liam Halligan has been writing about the hazards of sub-prime lending for several years - this is what he told me about the reporting of the Rock:
This Northern Rock episode is a perfect illustration of the huge gulf between business and economics journalism on the one transfer and mainstream journalism on the other - and the dangers of that gulf. The UK’s beat business and economics commentators undergo seen the sub-prime crisis brewing for a long-time. Proof of that is in the clips. But the mainstream media doesn’t take much notice of the business sections until a crisis has hit. That’s a big problem - because it means very little pressure is brought to feature on either regulators or politicians to rein banks in until it’s too late. And then when a lender like Northern Rock does get into difficulties the mainstream media goes into dread mode completely over-blowing the story - which means people unnecessarily queue up to pull out their money making an avoidable situation even worse.
