Suspect shot by Newark police

NEWARK. N. J. - Newark police say they shot a guess who pointed a gun at officers. The suspect was taken to University Medical Center where he was reported to be in serious condition.
Authorities say the shooting happened shortly after 10 p m when undercover officers assigned to the city's gang intelligence unit observed a vehicle being driven erratically. Officers approached the vehicle after the driver pulled into a driveway on Stone Street.
As officers approached the driver tried to flee ramming a police vehicle. Police say the driver then drew a weapon and pointed it at officers.
Several officers fired wounding the suspect who then attempted to run away but was soon captured.
One command was treated for a non-life-threatening injury caused by flying glass.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
